Gas light turns on AFTER car runs out of gas
I was driving a rental 2004 Dodge Neon in San Jose, CA in 2004. In the middle of the highway the car started stalling, and I noticed that the gas meter was way towards the empty mark. I quickly got off at the next exit and about 50 yards from the exit the car finally stopped. The most annoying thing about that car was that the gas warning light came on about 5 seconds AFTER the car finally stopped. Luckily I had AAA membership. They arrived quickly and filled the tank with a few gallons of gas.
I am used to cars where the warning light comes on with at least a gallon or two of gas remaining in the tank. This car was just awful.

I'm sure the car was used to drivers who are smart enough to notice when a gas gauge conveniently located right next to the speedometer shows that you are at out of gas. Don't blame a faulty yellow light for your stupidity.

Stick, meet Bob's ass.
Whether the poster should have paid more attention to the gas gauge or not is irrelevant. The fact that the light came on after the fact makes for an amusing anecdote; there's no reason to insult the poster's "stupidity" for choosing to share it. Why read this site, anyway?
