Always 9 Gallon Fill Up

January 4, 2008 about Toyota Prius

It seems that every time I fill up my 2005 prius, whether I go as soon as the light comes on - or if I drive another 50 miles... it seems I put in 8.9, 9.0, or 9.1 gallons. I am sure that when I ran out of gas after I first bought it, there should have been another 50 miles... But now I usually go about 350 miles then fill up. I always get around 45 miles a gallon, and I drive like a bat out of hell!

So no complaints with the car... love the navigation system, will never have another car with out it. It goes fast, has a ton of room and I get in the CA Carpool lane by myself... no better car than that! Bluetooth is great, and CD changer is great. They should have Serius or XM radio standard by now.

On a Classic 2001 Prius it always takes about 35 litres to fill after the fuel gauge light starts blinking. This is about 9.2 US Gal/7.7 Imperial Gal. I have gone as much as 80 km/50 miles after that before filling up in the summer time.

It's not really a dfiuicflt calculation. Many folks finance for 5 years. Many of them will look at their monthly car payment .AND their monthly fuel expenses. If the car payment plus the fuel costs of a hybrid beat the ICE many folks will make the change. If not you then are into the realm of why someone would buy a car that costs more a month than another car. People do this but in doing this.. there is a realization that you're committing yourself to higher monthly expenses.I would submit that for many folks who don't have big incomes.. that this is what drives their decisions.
