Cruising Daytona

March 9, 2011 about Chevrolet Camaro

Years ago, when you could cruise the entire length of Daytona Beach on the sand I did just that. Filled up my 85 Camaro to the top, went to the beach with a friend. Laid in the sun, played frisbee, and cruised. Cruised some more. Talked to girls, cruised some more. I had house-speakers bungie corded in the bak seats and was pumping the tunes, running the AC having a great time.

On the way home, I turned to my buddy and said, it seems like the entire engine just missed firing on all 8 cylinders for a second, and everything was cool for 10 more seconds and I was pulling over to the side of I-4.

Couldn't believe I ran out after topping off earlier that day and not really going anywhere (except up and down the beach). Car rolled to a stop about half a mile from an exit, no problem, got gas and back on the road. Ought to have known better, but I haven't run out of gas since that day, nearly 20 years ago now...
