Driving On Empty During Hot Weather

June 27, 2008 about Hyundai XG350

MY XG350XL WAS ON EMPTY TWICE IN JUNE AND I GOT TO THE GAS STATION TO FILL IT UP. IT WOULD NOT FILL ALL THE WAY TO READ A FULL ON THE DASH OR THE DIGITAL READ OUT SAYING I COULD NOW GO 375 MILES. THE GAS STATION ATTENDANT TOLD ME THAT DURING HOT WEATHER THE TANK GETS A GAS VAPOR LOCK. IT IS BEST TO FILL YOUR CAR UP WITH GAS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS COOLER. NOT SURE IF THIS IS TRUE, BUT WHEN I SEE GAS AT 3.80 I FILL IT UP.

I get up at 3a.m. every nite to fill my tank. I don't want no fuel pump problems. I love my neon. It is fast and my girlfriend bought me some real neat hub caps. I can send a picture of it if anyone wants one. Well let me know. I have to go cornhole the girlfriend now.

Try a couple of things: 1. Slow down the fill when you get near the top of the tank, and 2. When the pump stops, bounce the rear of the car up and down a couple of times to let the gas settle in the tank, then slowly continue filling. I never have any trouble getting mine to full with 375 remaining. James - don't all Neon drivers get up at 3a.m. to fill their tanks? Anyone who gets up at 3a.m. to fill their tank deserves to own a Neon.
