Running Late For Work

December 14, 2007 about Pontiac Grand Prix

I was running late for work and I noticed that my fuel light had come on but I went ahead and drove on to work, I had about 25 more miles to go. If I would have stopped to get gas I would have been late to work. My son told me that he had driven his 1996 olds cutless after his fuel light came on. He drove about 35 or 40 miles to get home. I thought since I had the same motor in my car as he did, i thought it would work for me too, and it did. When I got off work I drove about another mile to get to the gas station. But they say If you drive with your gas tank real low, you pull all that dirt and rust out of the bottom of the gas tank, and thats not good. If you do it to offen you may be replacing your fuel pump. And my fuel pump is in my gas tank and it's a chore to fix it. So I wouldn't advise that you drive your car to far after the fuel light comes on. Marilyn
