Tank on EmptyTank on Empty

Unleaded 2.0 Litre Aeg.

May 8, 2008 about Volkswagen Golf

Well, I cant say I ever ran out of gas to the point of my car shuddering to a terrifying halt on the expressway, or any other road for that matter. But I have pushed my little golf as far as I could before chickening out and caving in for a tank of gas.

but due to one, or maybe it was two by now, tests on milage; I have concluded that I was able to get 40 extra miles when my "go buy gas, stupid!" ding sounded. I pushed it a full day worth of driving past, because I didn't have the $$ to buy gas that day, had to wait for a pay check to clear. But i'm 99% positive it was about 40 extra miles driving cautiously. Accelerating slowly out of lights/stop signs, breaking early, not driving like I mean it, etc etc.

I've clocked that the 2.0 engine is quite compatible of getting 30+mpg when maintaining same speed on freeway travels. But it's much closer to 26, 27mpg in stop/go traffic.

Good luck with your tests, but try and have a gallon handy just in case.
