Gas tank holds 20 gallons and when the gas warning message comes on the care will only hold 17 gallons. An easy 3 gallon cushion. I have twice now driven pass the zero miles left warning message and believe 2 gallons remain at this point. How far you can go will depend on what kind of city or highway milage

I totally agree. I have an 08 Altima and the warning message comes on ridiculously early. Basically it comes on when my tank still shows as having a quarter tank left.
