Tank on EmptyTank on Empty

Cross-Canada Driving

May 25, 2008 about Toyota Matrix

My 2006 base Matrix has taken two trips from Edmonton to Montreal, one to Vancouver Island, and another to Phoenix. Driving the speed limit, I can count on about 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres, or as they count in non-metric-land, 47 miles per Imperial gallon. When the tank-on-empty light comes on in the city, I can make the 54-kilometre trip home with no issues, and generally can only squeeze in 48 or 49 litres on a 50-litre tank. However, once I got to the point where I put in 50.8 litres by filling the tank to the top of the filler tube. Now if only Toyota dealers weren't such utter jerks...

Too funny. Though only the Toyota dealers in Vancouver were horrible. Good to know crappy service is part if their mandate.
