My 2006 base Matrix has taken two trips from Edmonton to Montreal, one to Vancouver Island, and another to Phoenix. Driving the speed limit, I can count on about 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres, or as they count in non-metric-land, 47 miles per Imperial gallon. When the tank-on-empty light comes on in the city, I can make the 54-kilometre trip home with no issues, and generally can only squeeze in 48 or 49 litres on a 50-litre tank. However, once I got to the point where I put in 50.8 litres by filling the tank to the top of the filler tube. Now if only Toyota dealers weren't such utter jerks...
