Don'T Trust The Computer

July 21, 2008 about GMC Acadia

I ran out of gas in my brand new Acadia. In my previous Chevy Astro I could go nearly 100 miles once the gas light came on. When the light came on in my new car, I checked the computer to see how many miles it thought I could go...about 40. But with 29 miles to go - I was out of gas! I kept telling my car "you can't be out of gas - you told me I can still go 29 miles and the gas station is only 3 blocks away!" No luck, I had to pull over (in a no parking zone), have a chat with the nice police officer who stopped to see why I had pulled over and then walk to the gas station. Now I stop immediately if the light goes on!!!

This exact thing happened to me, the trip computer said I could go several miles further but our Acadia ran out of gas, stranding us on the interstate just a mile short of the exit where I was heading to get gas. THIS IS DANGEROUS! How can I enter a negative total on this site?

Wouldn't the winner have the opotin of remaining anonymous? I fear the same thing everyone else does with the family and friends coming out of the woodwork. As for me, if I was fortunate enough to win, I won't even tell my cat. It is a large sum of money but if you break it down with the cost of living, it won't last a lifetime. However, you could put the bulk of it in a CD or something to that effect and probably be able to live comfortably on the interest alone. GOD I HOPE I WIN.
