Empty Or Full?

December 17, 2007 about Pontiac Grand Prix

The light came on just as I left work, and I had 25 miles to go before home and the filling station. As I rounded that last corner, it suddenly went up to full. I decided to test it and drove around a while and it never wavered below full for almost 20 miles. I did fill it up and it took 18.4 gallons. When the light first comes on, it normally takes about 14, and when it got down to that last mark before the "E", it took about 16, so I now know it never goes empty, it fills up and then mysteriously drinks fuel like a horse on a desert trek after it passes the "E" mark.

Hey! I am having the same problem with my 2002 pontiac grand prix! I think the fuel guage reads correctly until the car is low on fuel, then the guage jumps up to show a full tank for some reason. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks!

Most likely the prbeolm has to do with the front strut mounts. Since you are taking the strut assembly completely out of the car to get to the strut mount you might as well replace the strut at the same time. Same labor is involved. Here is how its done:

It is better to err on the side of paying a little extra premium than to have inadequate coverage. Here are some of the important points that you should know about the protection.
