Gas Already? Seriously...
I have a 1998 Buick Century and I swear it has the quirkiest gas gauge. I can drive almost 200 miles on the first 1/2 tank then boom, only get about 75 miles, then the light... BUT I still must have close to a 1/4 tank left.
I have driven on average 60 miles after the light comes on without panicking... sometimes more. I hit ALMOST 100 miles then when I filled up - it was virtually a TRUE full tank for fill up.
I've had the float looked at and it all seems ok... just another quirky thing with my car...
Story replies
So what do you think this is, some kind of parade? Did you pay someone to look at your float? I suppose it was all covered with flowers and oh so pretty. Well no one here wants to hear about it. Next time stick to the facts. Or else make up an interesting story. Your probably a liar anyway so it won't make any difference.
I have a 98Buick Century and my gas guage can fly down pretty fast. Then the warning light comes on so i go fill up the tank to full and it takes 11 1/2 gallons to fill. It is a 17 gallon tank. So when warning light sounds I have 5 1/2 gallons left. Never ran it to the end but my geuss is about 110. I will throw a gallon can in the trunk and will find out for you all. Then I will update this post.
Must be the design. My 2001 takes forever to hit the 1/2 mark. Another 50 miles and it's close to empty. Last summer I had the float sensor go out so I was tracking fuel level by filling up every 200 miles. New sensor does the exact same thing as before it failed.
I'm a bit skeptical about the Volt msylef having followed the saga of the EV1 in the pages of Popular Mechanics and various automotive publications, and it seems they still can't figure out how to cut the curb weight without looking at the obvious. As far as the 220v charging stations go, who thought we lived in Europe? :P
