How Far To Go
I recently bought a 2006 Subaru Forester. Not knowing how far I could drive once gas light came on I only traveled 20 miles before stopping to get gas. I filled up then I calculated how much gas was still in car before I filled up and there was nearly 2 1/2 gallons of gas remaining. So averaging 22 mpg and having already driven 20 miles I would feel safe driving 60 miles after my gas light comes on.

I recently taken over my moms 2011 Forester, and I have pushed it till I thought was my limits. I figured there is enough gas left after the light comes on for about 60 miles driving the speed limit and no stop n goes. Depending on how recent the vehicle had a tune up and how big your fuel tank is. You have approximately. 40 to 60 miles left.
