Tank on EmptyTank on Empty

I Still Can'T Belive It...

February 12, 2009 about Nissan Altima

I wanted to take my 2005 2.5S Altima to the max. When my gas light came on I reset the mileage trip and drove 101 miles before I ran out of gas completely. Luckily, when I did run out of gas I was pulling into the gas station. My goal was to reach 100 miles and on the way to the gas station I ran out. Awesome!!! I filled my tank with 20.467 gallons. 2/12/09 - Cliffside Park, NJ

Good Job! I only have a aging 2000 nissan Altima and It is at the age I would prefer not to do any more damage to it, but I have gone 60 highway miles and still made the pump... the guy above me.... why are you on this site?

WOOT WOOT! I have 2001 Altima I bought about three years ago when shortly afterward I was making my way out of my driveway and my gas light turned on. Realizing I had no $$$ what so ever to put in the tank and one week from my first pay check at a new job had me really wondering if I was going to be able to make it to work long enough to get paid and be able to put gas in my car. Well my friends I drove 24 miles (round trip) for an additional five days of work and I never ran out of gas! Got my paycheck, filled that sucker up and was ear to ear grinning the entire time! Still loving it after all these years, Altimas are fantastic on Gas!

I have an 07 Altima with the 2.5L engine with the automatic. My story is fairly typical. When my fuel warning message and light comes on it generally says I have approximately 55 to 60 miles to drive before empty. But when I fill up I usually can't get more than about 17 gallons of gas into the tank, some times less. Which means I had at least 3 gallons left or sufficient gas to get somewhere around another 100 miles to completely empty. Because I can usually get about 35 mpg highway (@65 mph) I could go well over 100 miles if need be before having to fill up. Altimas have 20 gallon fuel tanks, which is larger than some SUV's and full size pick-up trucks; and at 35 mpg highway, its nearly 700 mile cruising range on a single tank is one of the reasons I bought the car in the first place.

I went 2,435 miles before on 15 tanks of gas. I am so proud of my 2023 Nissan Altima 6.5 S Turbo Dual Exhaust Chicken coupe. That thang rocks

Thanks guys! this really makes me feel good. I was wondering if I could make 20 miles after the light coming on. It seems I can easily do that!!!

This makes me happy ???????????? I am on my way to pick up my husband from work and it is pay day. I have a little under a quarter of a tank left and have been freaking out because I have our daughter with me. I have been super nervous for about 30 minutes because I have about 25 miles left to go until I arrive at his work. I asked Siri "how far can I get after my gas light comes on?" and this site came up in the search results. I have the same year and model Altima, so thank you for the peace of mind!
