Lost In Mexico

We were driving from Tucson AZ to Mazatlan Mexico. There was a gas station on the highway between Culiacan and Mazatlan so I decided to skip the gas stations in Culiacan to fill up in that station. When we got to the station it looked abandoned. We were in the mid point so we slowed down to 30 mph and made it to Mazatlan 50 miles away from the time that we got the empty light. I had read the story here so I thought we could make it if we slowed down. It was embarrasing when the local guys in the mopeds would honk at us because we were going to slow for them. Latter we were told that there had been a hurricane that flooded the whole area and brought down a bridge and that is why the gas station had been abandoned.
