Love That Little Car...

March 15, 2011 about Mitsubishi Mirage

I recall one particular instance where due to some other issues that popped up, I was dead broke. Three days til Friday and payday, and the fuel light flickered on while I was on the way home from work. Managed to drive back and forth from Clearwater FL to south Tampa, FL for two days, and TO work on the third, then filled it up before heading home, for a total of just about 60 miles after the low fuel light first flickered on.

Much more recent post: In 2014, I bought a Mirage. I have found it to be the best-kept secret in the auto industry. It is a fantastic vehicle. Seats 4 adults comfortably, 5 with a squeeze. 40+ MPUSG reliably. If the scheduled maintenance is kept up, no problems whatsoever. 100K mile power train warranty, 60K bumper-to-bumper. Plus a pot-load of added features at no extra cost, all standard. All this for $16K. Adding a tow bar, I have used this little chugger to haul a 4 x 8 steel-frame 450-lb trailer loaded with 24 50-lb bales of hay for 25 miles at 60 mph on a freeway - at 32 mpg. What's not to like? 2017, wife bought another one. Same song, second verse. 2018, son bought another. Laughed all the way to the bank. Why is the rest of the auto industry still pushing the gas-guzzlers? bigger (and _far_ more expensive) is not always better. And wasteful is NEVER better.
