No Gas Light
I don't have a gas light, I think they started putting them on Miatas in 2003.

Truth... I have a 2002 Mx5 and it also doesnt have a light... but had a reasonably trustworthy gauge... I think ir easily does arroud 40 miles from the point it shows empty...
I have a 92 MX-5 and I typically go 50+ miles after my gauge is below empty (no gas light as well). Empty usually occurs 260 miles into a tank and I consistently go to 310 miles on one tank and have never run out of gas.
I agree with Janis. I've also have a 2002 MX5 and it doesn't have any gas light. Anyway, I've been driving like 50 miles from the empty point of the gauge
I have a 1997 miata, There is no gas light on mine either, and I've only gotten approx 20-30 miles after hitting E, and that is using a lot of coasting, and shifts under 2500rpm. When I refilled I only had .1 gallons left.
From my calculations it's about 8 liters (about 2 galons) after reaching the last line. While my mx-5 is buring 12l/100km I'm able to do 60km safely (about 37 miles) in the city.
2012 MX-5 and I have a light. For freeway driving I have gone over 50 miles once the light illuminates. While around town 30 additional miles are normal. I get around 300/25 mpg and around town and 360/30mpg on the freeway.
