I have a 2001 Dakota 4x4, V-6 with the 5 speed manual transmission. I get between 19 and 22 mpg, with a comfortable average of 20. My fuel light comes on with 6 gallons remaining so I figure I have about 120 miles to empty. (The website here thinks that can't be!)

I don't think your gauge is working properly

Light comes on at 1/8 tank, I always go at least 80 farther. 2.5 liter, 22 gallon tank, Club Cab, 3.91 rear gears, dead on accurate speedo & odometer, always get 500+ miles, as high as 29 mpg

Yeah I go 100+ with the light on, too. In fact if a Dakota doesn't go that far with the light on, there is probably something wrong with it.
