Tank Empty, Gauge Not

Once, and only once, in 1998, my old 1994 Saturn SC1's gas gauge let me down.... I should have believed the trip odo... on a e/b trip through Crowsnest Pass, Hwy 3, I thought that I was due for a fillup, the trip odo was over 700 km, but the gauge was reading 1/8. To make a long story short, I ran out in Blairmore, AB, luckily i was in the town and was able to turn right off the hwy and coast to a stop on the main drag and hike to the nearest gas station. Point being, trust the trip odo, not the gauge, and it's best to err on the side of caution.
