05 coupe. i was driving on a stretch of highway with no exits for many miles when my light came on. i thought i was running on fumes since they tell you it's 18 gal tank. i was past the 18 gal mark when i found a gas station and i filled 18.2 gals.

Not necessarily. There is a long neck that goes to the tank. that .2 gallons could be the volume. Keep in mind volume is corrected to 15 degrees Celsius (about 60F). This allows for expansion and contraction of the fuel.
