When Does The Darn Light Come On?
I set my trip meter to zero when the light came on, but ran out of nerve at 41 miles and filled up. It took 19 gallons, and it holds 21 gallons!
This is a Touring model, which switches to 3 cylinders to save fuel whenever it can, but I don't think that has anything to do with it.
Everytime I fill up my 2007, after the light has been on for awhile, I only pump 17 to 18 miles too! I was wondering that myself. Maybe my husband and I will take a 5 gallon gas can and actually see how far we go till we are actually out of gas! Glad I'm not the only one who has come accrss this issue!!
Most cars can run for a about an hour of highway driving with little problem on the "reserve". The thing is, you shouldn't do it too often as it's bad for the pump, filter and lines.
Since we've purchased the minivan in 2013 (new) the indicator light would come on at around 40 miles (miles to empty)and for the past month or so since a battery change and reset, the indicator light comes on around 15-18 miles to empty!! Went to the Honda dealer where we bought the minivan and they say that the manual indicator, miles to empty and indicator lights are not all connected together! So everything is working correctly is what they say....so what why are we seeing the indicator light work differently? I understand it's an "estimate" but why is the estimate delta so large? Frustrating!!
