When It Finally Gave Up

July 18, 2007 about Pontiac Grand Am

I have a 1999 Pontiac Grandam Gt and I was at school driving it back and forth to class during finals week. Well on Monday my car was on empty and the light was on but I ignored it because I figured "hey I am only going back and forth to class" well it finally gave up on me on Friday May 13th, 2007 around 11 something am. I had picked my friend up from her final and we were going to go back to the apartment to finish packing up because after my final (which was scheduled at 11:45am) we were heading on the rode to come back to Chicago. Well just as I was riding down the busiest street on campus my car stopped and just rolled. My car ran out of gas! I held up buses, cars, golf carts that were carrying plants, even the bike riders were mad and I have no clue why! So after about 30mins of sitting holding up traffic I seen my dear old friend "Dre" coming and I flagged him down, I begged him to go and get me some gas in a container and he agreed, although when he came back he only brought me 1 gallon of gas which did nothing so he had to go back to the gas station and get 2 more gallons, mind you I was still holding up traffic. And you would think that the school campus security would have helped me out or something. Well while we were waiting I did get some great news, my stepdad called and said he had found me a summer job (which I am happy to say I love). Well when "Dre" came back he put the last 2 gallons in my car started up. I was very excited although I was late to my final but I still managed to get an "A" on that no lie! Since that expierience I try not to let my gas tank get on "E" but I know if it does it will last me a week! LOL

I have a 99 Grand Am, and I've noticed that you need at least 3 gallons to even get it going. I ran out once, and I even had a two gallon spare tank in my trunk. When I pored it in, it still wouldn't start, so I had to flag someone down and convince them to get me another 2 gallons of gas.
